At night, while casually scrolling through Instagram, a post appeared with an aerial photo of Sacsayhuaman in Peru. The title read “Sacsayhuaman: The House of the Universe.”
I thought: … and I haven’t even searched for anything about Peru.
I kept scrolling without paying much attention.

The day before traveling to Cusco, I discovered something unexpected: my travel companion, Yazmin Beltrán, and I would not be flying with the rest of the group. Our flight would be direct from Bogotá to Cusco, which gave us half a day free to explore on our own.
I immediately remembered the Instagram post and looked up Sacsayhuaman was. To my surprise, it was very close to the center of Cusco. Accessible. This was truly unexpected!
A couple of hours later, without me having said anything, Diana Carvajal, the group leader, shared a document about that same place with me.
I didn’t read it.
I didn’t need to.
The sign was clear. Too clear to ignore.
It became evident that this should be our first destination.
